**Effective September 15, 2009 under the Canada Shipping Act-Competency of Operators of Pleasure Craft Regulations all persons who operate a pleasure craft that is fitted with a motor must have proof of competency.  (Proof of competency means a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, a Boating Safety Course Completion Card, a Rental Boat Safety Checklist, proof of the successful completion of a boating safety course before April 1, 1999, or a certificate or other document pertaining to boating safety knowledge, as required under Section 4 or the Act.)**

As a result of the above regulation, effective Sept. 15 many of the companies we deal with will not insure any property while it is not being operated in accordance with the Canada Shipping Act regulations; ie-that the operator has a Pleasure Craft Operator Card or equivalent.
